Level 1 - Foundations of Yoga in Daily Life

 

A unique course introducing progressive series of Sarva Hitta Asanas or Postures Beneficial for Everyone as well as the Yoga in Daily Life signature Khatu Pranam, Salutations to Khatu series. This course covers all the foundations you need for an ongoing yoga practice. The exercises are designed for the complete balance and awakening of energy in Body, Mind and Soul. Experience yoga postures, breath techniques, meditation and relaxation along with knowledge about basic Yoga philosophy and a healthy lifestyle. Intermediate - Levels 2-3

intermediateA progressive course for students who have completed at least 12 weeks of Level 1. This course will introduce, step-by-step, the second and third level of the YIDL system, each with a unique sequence which includes dynamic postures to awaken energy in the body as well as rejuvenating asanas which promote well-being, restore the inner balance and harmonize the body, mind, and soul.
Pre-requisite: 12 weeks in Level 1 with Yoga in Daily Life.

Advanced Level 4 to 8

A 12 week series at level 4 followed by Level 5,6,7,8. The pre-requisite to join this class is the training in Levels 1-3. As once you have reached this level you have become an advanced yoga student. Here so much more attention is required on slow, conscious, concentrated practice. Remaining in each position for a longer period of time will enable you to experience the influence of the Asanas upon body, mind and soul, you begin to percieve the vital energy that is stimulated through your body in each of the postures. The meditation in this level deepens the concentration (Dharana), and the pranayama is held for longer.

In each of the levels, the whole body is treated using relaxation, stretching, and strengthening in order to protect your back body from pain and injury. Once medical diagnosis has excluded natural damage as the cause of a problem, then regular practice according to this system will help improve or restore muscular balance, correct posture, and improve circulation in the whole body. This class is suitable for beginners as well as those who are looking for a comprehensive back care program on a long term basis.

Yoga for Vitality and Digestion

relaxationThis progressive course is designed to increase vitality, strengthen the abdominal muscles, activate and harmonize the function of the entire digestive system and to remove energetic blockages in the body. The course is suitable for everyone regardless of age or fitness level. For each posture in this class, there are 6 variations leading from very gentle to advanced and everyone will be guided according to his or her level with a choice of staying with the gentle postures or moving on to more challenging variations. Throughout this course, we will offer a variety of physical exercises (asanas), relaxation, meditation, visualization and breathing techniques, as well as yogic bandhas which activate energy in the body. This class is great for anyone looking for a re-vitalizing class and a holistic approach to yoga and health and may be especially helpful for those with diabetes.

Meditation - Self Inquiry

 

Self-Inquiry Meditation is a fundamental aspect of the Yoga in Daily Life system. In this class you will learn  how to relax your body, harmonize and deepen your breath, calm down and focus the mind. The class will progress to deep concentraton and meditation practices which will lead you, step-by-step, to Self-knowledge unfolment of the hidden powers within.  The ultimate goal of meditation is to experience and realize the Divine Self (Atma) within, however, yoga and meditation will help improve the quality of your life regardless of your goals. Regular practice of meditation will help you de-stress and deepen your understanding of yourself and those around you.

Yoga for Seniors - Free for Seniors 65+

Gentle yoga class adapted to the needs of seniors to promote flexibility, balance, strength, and overall health. Individual attention will also be given to the needs of each participant. All are welcome regardless of age or physical ability. Chairs will be available for those who need it. Everyone is welcome to the class - for those 65 and older, please sign up as "unpaid". For those younger than 65, we have a discounted price of $5 drop-in fee to make this class affordable for all.

Satsang

Satsang is a Sanskrit word which means to be with Truth, to be at the place where Truth is discussed and taught. This is an evening filled with yoga philosophy and spirituality, devotional songs (bhajans), and meditation. Everybody is heartily welcome.  Weekly satsangs are on Sundays from 5:15 – 7:00 PM.
