Welcome to Yoga in Daily Life of Greater Atlanta in Buford

Increase your health, vitality, and well being and develop your full potential with yoga according to the classical and authentic system Yoga in Daily Life®. Our yoga classes start with gentle exercises suitable for everyone and progress gradually, step-by-step, to highly advanced postures and techniques. All classes include deep anti-stress relaxation, yoga postures, breathing techniques, and self inquiry meditation.

We are a non-profit, community service organization dedicated to sharing the benefits of yoga with all, regardless of age, gender, or physical ability. Our center has been sharing the immense benefits of Yoga in Daily Life with the Buford and surrounding communities in the Greater Atlanta area for more than 15 years. This yoga ashram is a peaceful oasis where you have a chance to retreat to your inner self, and practice the time-honored techniques of yoga.

Class Descriptions

Level 1 – Yoga in Daily Life Foundation Course

First Level of the graded, Eight-Level, Yoga in Daily Life System. A true gem in the world of yoga, Level 1 consists of Sarva Hitta Asanas, translated as "Postures Beneficial for All", which are gentle enough for a complete beginner and yet, when practiced to their full extent, are sure to challenge even advanced yoga practitioners. Take advantage of this unique course which will introduce the first level of the classical, authentic system of Yoga in Daily Life. Throughout the course, the body is gradually and systematically prepared, leading from simple exercises to more advanced postures. Each class includes a deep relaxation, yoga postures and stretches, and breath techniques which promote the balance of the body, mind, and soul.

Courses: Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:00 - 10:30 AM OR 6:00 - 7:30 PM
Ongoing (Drop-In) Level 1 Classes: Tuesdays 7:45 - 9:15 PM  Saturdays 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM  

Level 2

Level 2 of Yoga in Daily Life introduces 17 new asanas, as well as the next step of Nadi Sodhan pranayama (breathing technique) and level 2 of self-inquiry meditation.
Pre-requisite: 12 weeks in Level 1 with Yoga in Daily Life.

Gentle Class

A Level 1 yoga class adapted to seniors, persons recovering from illness, those who feel "out of shape" and anyone who would like a gentle introduction to yoga with all the benefits of yoga such as relaxation, gentle stretching, strengthening, and breathing exercises included in this Yoga in Daily Life course. Individual attention is given to help find variations suitable for each student as needed. Anyone with serious medical problem, or in case of pregnancy, please consult your doctor regarding your intention to attend a yoga class and any limitations to your ability to participate.

Yoga for a Healthy Back and Neck

Yoga in Daily Life course specially designed for those who have suffered from chronic back pain or general back, shoulder and neck discomfort, and also for those who want to learn and practice preventative care as well as correct alignment and good discernment of postures during yoga practice. The 8 level system parallels the comprehensive exercise system Yoga in Daily Life with special exercises for back care. In each of the levels, the whole body is treated using relaxation, stretching, and strengthening in order to protect your back body from pain and injury. Once medical diagnosis has excluded natural damage as the cause of a problem, then regular practice of "Yoga in Daily Life" will help improve or restore muscular balance, correct posture, and improve circulation in the whole body. Anyone with a serious back or other medical condition, please be sure to consult your doctor regarding any limitations to your ability to participate in a yoga class.

Yoga & Meditation

This course is designed for students who wish to learn how to meditate or deepen their meditation practice. Each class will start with a relaxation followed by a few yoga postures and a breathing practice to prepare the body and mind for the self-inquiry meditation at the end of the class. 
 
Self-Inquiry Meditation is a fundamental aspect of the Yoga in Daily Life system. In the same way as the asanas and breath techniques are learned step by step in the Yoga in Daily Life system, so the Self-Inquiry meditation starts with simple techniques to attain physical and mental relaxation and progresses, step by step, through various concentration and visualization techniques to deep inquiry into our personal qualities, habits, and patterns of thought. In self inquiry meditation, we learn how to detach ourselves from preconceived ideas and opinions in order to gain full insight and attain Self-Knowledge and personal development. Fridays 6:30 - 8:00 PM

Yoga and Deep Relaxation

A deeply relaxing and rejuvenating class which includes anti-stress relaxation, deep breathing techniques, and stress releasing yoga postures. This class is suitable for beginners as well as those with previous yoga experience. Discover a pace that asks you to slow down and listen deeply, and move into stillness and deep relaxation. Thursdays 7:45 - 9:15 PM

Yoga for Everyone at the Bogan Park

A Level 1 of Yoga in Daily Life System now offered also at the Bogan Park. A true gem in the world of yoga, Level 1 consists of Sarva Hitta Asanas, translated as "Postures Beneficial for All", which are gentle enough for a complete beginner and yet, when practiced to their full extent, are sure to challenge even advanced yoga practitioners. Take advantage of this unique course which will introduce the first level of the classical, authentic system of Yoga in Daily Life. Throughout the course, the body is gradually and systematically prepared, leading from simple exercises to more advanced postures. Each class includes a deep relaxation, yoga postures and stretches, and breath techniques which promote the balance of the body, mind, and soul.This class is suitable for beginners as well as those with previous yoga experience. Yoga for the Unemployed

We offer free yoga for those who have lost a job or are without income. Come to stretch, relax, breathe, and re-gain self-confidence. Our Yoga for the Unemployed has now been integrated into our regular classes. If you are unemployed/without income, please register online and let us know you would like to participate in our Yoga for the Unemployed program. We will put 8 classes on your account and will let you know which classes are open for registration under this program; usually we will have at least 3 classes in the week that you will be able to choose from. After the initial 8 classes, we can extend your pass based on individual situations. Online registration is necessary for participation in this class.

Level 3 and above

Each subsequent level of the Yoga in Daily Life system will introduce new set of asanas and a new level of breathing practice, meditation, and relaxation.

Discounts:

10% Family Discount on 4 week and longer pricing options - direct relatives or partners in the same household. 10% Senior Discount (65+)

* Discounts are not valid for Drop-Ins and Flex Passes and cannot be combined; only one type of discount per person.

Discounts based on Need:

If you are a student, a senior living only on Social Security, on disability, unemployed, etc, please stop by our center and we will try to find a way that will help you to do yoga regularly without creating a financial burden. We are always trying to help sincere students who have come to financial difficulties. Please note that decisions for a payment plan or discount are made on a case by case basis and are not guaranteed.

We reserve the right to change or cancel any class.

Refunds

New students:If for any reason, you wish to discontinue the classes, please let us know within 7 days from your first class and we will give you a full refund. This guarantee applies only for pricing options that have been used within the first month of purchase. Please be sure to use your class passes within one month of purchase, as expired passes cannot be refunded. Exclusions to our 7 day refund policy: Please note that we are not able to give any refunds for gift & wellness cards, however, we will may, at our discretion, extend your pass or transfer it to another person.

Regular Students: We are not able to offer refunds, however, under certain circumstances, such as health & family emergencies, etc., we may be able to extend your pass or transfer it to another person. Please let us know as soon as possible if you cannot continue classes so that, if we make the decision to extend your pass, we can change the expiration dates of your pricing option.

We are a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization. If you wish to make a tax deductible donation to support our organization, you can use the below button. Please specify if you are making a general donation to support our center or if you are donating for a specific cause such as supporting our efforts to expand our program to offer free or discount classes for unemployed / low income students, elderly people on social security or other persons in need.
