Meditation for All – A Special Twelve-week Class Meeting Wednesdays, May 18 - August 3

Meditation for allSelf-Inquiry Meditation enables us to understand ourselves and others, to purify the subconscious, and gradually lose the inner inhibitions and complexes. Our thinking becomes clearer and we learn what helps us to overcome difficulties in life and enable our inner Self to unfold.

We practice 5 steps over 12 weeks of time. First is step 1 of how to observe the body and breath without influencing them. After that in step 2, it is to feel and keep attention on our inner space, observe the thoughts without influencing them, and mentally repeat a very simple mantra, so-ham. Then step 3 is learning to explore emotions and thoughts connected to certain visualization techniques. In step 4, you practice Tratak, concentration on a candlelight flame, to evoke the inner light and feel inner peace, harmony and the cosmic vibration. In step 5, you analyze good and bad qualities, as well as observe human qualities of joy and fearlessness developing in us.

Meditation Beyond the Basics – A Special Twelve-week Class Meeting Fridays, May 20 - August 5

In this course you will learn about each of the 8 main chakras. You will practice certain techniques to awaken them and build on our strengths and latent abilities associated with each of these centers.

Chakras are energy centers through which cosmic energy flows into our body. They have a significant influence on us physically, mentally and spiritually and are connected to the awakening of Kundalini; also known as serpent power. The rising of Kundalini is actually a process of an awakening in consciousness. When the consciousness is awakening, awareness and clarity are heightened, energy is flowing increasingly upwards, and the development of wisdom, self-discipline and self-control take place.

After examining all 8 chakras, we practice Chakra Dharana, connecting the Chakras from Manipura to Agya with the help of the breath and followed by concentration on the inner space, Chidakash Dharana. With reverence, gratitude and love, we can dive into a state of deeper meditation to realize our Divine Self and the purpose of our life in this world.

This course will focus primarily on meditation, but can occasionally involve some yoga, relaxation and pranayama exercises. (Drop in with teacher’s permission.)
