NETI POT - CERAMIC The practice of Neti (nasal wash) cleanses and restores health to the internal sinus passages. It helps against allergies, sinus problems, common colds and headaches. In yoga, breathing freely through both nostrils is also said to aid in harmonizing the active and passive systems of the body, and so the neti wash has been found to be helpful practice before Pranayama or Meditation. Neti instructions: Mix well approximately half of a tea spoon of non-iodized salt and lukewarm water in your neti pot. (The amount of salt may vary slightly with each person.) Bring spout to nose, and bend forward over the sink with head tilted to the side and slightly forward. As water flows through the upper nostril, make slight adjustments with your head and neti pot (if necessary) to allow water to flow out of the other nostril. After the pot empties, blow freely through both nostrils into the sink to clear the nose of excess water and mucus. Having completed the neti wash in one direction through the nostrils, repeat the same steps on the opposite side.
